The scintillating City of the Dead, anecdotally known as Al-Qarafa, is
so full of life and amenities that if you sum, you realize it is more
town than slum. We will be able to label the fabled vast necropolis
and feast our eyes on monuments glorious from the City Victorious.
True to the vision of some of its founders, the City of the Dead has
the power to entertain the mind and retain the body. Around 100,000
Cairenes live here amongst the dead. At the pinnacle of Islamic art,
the monuments are architected to articulate the vision of the stellar
dweller. Picnic among the graves in the City Beyond the Walls!

We attempt to see:

The Revolutionary Tour of Cairo presents an eyewitness epic account of
the rise and fall of a regime, the revolution and the revelations--
the decisive moments that led to the ultimate triumph of the power of
the people and the demise of a tyrant.

In a nutshell, my revolutionary tour is part of my activism as a
guide. You could say I am an activist guide -- in a manner of
speaking. I consider my tours as part of a global peripatetic
educational program. Through the revolutionary tour I try to revive
the spirit of the revolution and recount the story of the 25th January
Revolution and older revolutionary events -- such as ancient Egyptian
revolutions, revolutions during the Mamelukes, 1800, 1805, 1919...

We explore the revolutionary figures who made Egypt susceptible to the
revolution -- Omar Makram, Ahmed Shawqi, Hafez Ibrahim, Talaat Harb,
Saad Zaghloul, Muhammed Naguib, Om Kolthoum, Khaled Said...

We start from the Palace of Khedive Ismail and head south passing by
Mubarak's brainwashing machine, Maspero, Cairo Tower, a monument to a
dictator. We cross the revolutionary bridge of Kasr Elnil, where the
police of the of the regime killed scores of protesters. Then, the
headquarters of the National Democratic Party, what I call the
National Diabolical Party.

We end in Tahrir, the birthplace of the Egyptian Revolution.

I have participated in covering the events of the revolution and its
ramifications with the CBS network and BBC.
I have given a version of this tour to CNN.
